Diamond Jubilee community tea at Yeadon Methodist Church with singer Emma James
A Diamond community tea for more than 50 people was held at Yeadon Methodist Church, to mark the Jubilee year.
The tea was the first event held by the Soroptimist International of Aireborough for their 2012-2013 year. Anyone celebrating a diamond wedding anniversary or an 86th birthday this year was included in the invitation.
A Soroptimist spokeswoman said: “Everyone had an enjoyable afternoon tea with entertainment by local singer Emma James, who included a whole range of songs in her programme. She finished her performance with the well-known favourites from the Proms amid much waving of flags.”
Help with funding the event was given by Councillors Graham and Pat Latty. Coun Latty attended the event and presented gifts to the two couples with diamond wedding anniversaries and the two people with 86th birthdays.
