It’s back to nature with heritage centre’s new exhibition

An exhibition celebrating the diversity of the Washburn Valley’s flora and fauna will open in Fewston this weekend.

Titled The Natural World, the display will be available to view at the Washburn Heritage Centre, which adjoins the Church of St Michael and St Lawrence, at weekends, from this Saturday until Sunday, July 15.

Heritage development officer Anne Wigglesworth said: “The Washburn Valley is a wonderful place to see a wide variety of flowers, plants, insects and wildlife generally. It is just a case of knowing where to look.”

Viewing times will be from 11am to 4.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays, when the venue’s tea room will also be open.

A series of talks, guided walks and workshops on everything from geology and trees to bees and bats are also being held at the centre to complement the exhibition in the coming weeks.
