A teenager is dancing and singing her way to success after winning a one-year scholarship with a Horsforth drama school.

Fourteen-year-old Maisy Farrington has won a national competition with The Stage newspaper to study performing arts at her local Stagecoach school.

Maisy was disappointed last year after she won a scholarship to the Italia Conti School, but was unable to take up the place.

She is delighted to win the latest scholarship, organised by the performance industry’s trade magazine The Stage in conjuction with Stagecoach Theatre Arts which has schools at more than 200 locations nationwide.

Ken Davison, principal at Stagecoach Horsforth, said: “We’re delighted to have Maisy with us. She is already a very talented dancer and we’re helping her with her acting and singing skills as well. This term she will be entered for a group musical theatre exam, equivalent to a GCSE. I’m sure she will be one to watch out for in future.”
