A drive to slash £35,000 from Horsforth’s energy bills is being launched.
The Energy Saving Trust has teamed up with Leeds City Council for the initiative which will help individual householders cut their bills by hundreds of pounds – and which aims to save £35,000 per year for the whole of Horsforth.
Over the next few weeks experts will visit more than 2,300 homes in the town to offer free advice on reducing bills and cutting carbon dioxide emissions.
A number of surgeries will also be held in April to give free energy cutting tips.
The trust says the average household in the UK could save around £340 a year on energy bills and around 1.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions simply by making some straight forward improvements.
Though many people try to take steps to be more energy efficient, they says it’s not always that easy to find the best and most affordable solutions.
As well as giving expert advice the trust can help with with details on current grants and schemes available in the local area. The advice that is available includes home insulation, renewable energy, waste, and smarter driving tips.
The free surgeries will be held at the Grove Centre, New Street, on Tuesday, April 13, from 10am to 5pm; Horsforth Library, Town Street, on Wednesday, April 14, from 3pm to 6.30pm; and Morrisons, Town Street, on Wednesday, April 21, from 1pm to 6pm Residents can also go online to get a home energy report instantly by answering a short questionnaire at energysaving trust.org.uk/check .
Advice is available from the trust on 0800 512 012 or online at energysavingtrust.org.uk.
