Otley MP gives his backing to Clegg in Lib Dem leadership contest

LEEDS North West MP Greg Mulholland has publicly announced who he wants to become the new leader of the Liberal Democrats.

Mr Mulholland, whose constit-uency covers Pool-in-Wharfedale, Bramhope and Otley, is support-ing fellow Yorkshire MP Nick Clegg in his bid to succeed Sir Menzies Campbell, who resigned from the post last week.

Mr Mulholland said: "Nick is the right man to reach out to the British people and communicate our distinct vision of a fairer, freer, and greener Britain.

"This leadership election is about appealing to party members, but even more it is about getting out our message to the British public, and I have no doubt that Nick is the man to do that."
