JOY has greeted the news that two Otley war memorials disfigured by thieves in the summer will be restored in time for Remembrance Day.
The town was outraged in July when bronze plaques bearing the names of the war dead at Grove Hill Park and Otley Memorial Gardens, on Bondgate, were stolen.
Despite repeated appeals for them to be returned the plaques have not been seen since, and many feared this year's Remembrance services would be blighted as a result.
