Music fans in Menston are being asked to clear their decks of old CDs - to help children in Africa.
Unwanted discs, videos, DVDs or computer games are among the items being sought by St Mary's School in Menston in the latest round of fundraising for pupils of Mnyakanya High School.
Mnyakanya school, situated in the remote district of Nkandla in Kwa Zulu Natal, is in desperate need of support to provide much needed training, resources and sports equipment for its 20 pupils.
The appeal was borne out of a visit by assistant head teacher David Geldart who visited the school last year.
The discs will go on sale at the school Open Day on Saturday, October 6, from 11am until 2pm.
Among the collection will be two signed copies of the Kaiser Chiefs CDs- Employment' and Yours Truly, Angry Mob.' Mr Geldart said: "I am sure that we all have old CDs, videos, DVD's or computer games at home gathering dust. We are asking members of the local community to donate them.
"We are working with a desperately poor community in South Africa. Our work involves getting orphans into school, providing resources for the school, providing training for teachers, introducing health education, developing sports and very significantly, providing leadership training and opportunities for young people."
