Protesters have forced a housing trust to withdraw its plans for a new housing development in Burley-in-Wharfedale Bradford Community Housing Trust, (BCHT) had wanted to build a two-storey building containing four apartments on the site of a former garage court in Langford Road.
Villagers whose homes overlook the proposed site signed a petition against the proposals after an application for outline planning permission was submitted to Bradford Council.
Now it has emerged that the housing trust has withdrawn its application.
A spokesperson for BCHT said it would now meet with local residents to discuss their concerns before deciding on whether to submit a fresh planning application.
No fewer than 29 residents signed the petition against the proposed scheme. The objectors complained that the development was too big for the site and would overshadow their own homes.
Other complaints included the loss of car parking spaces and the danger from additional traffic accessing the new flats.
A spokesman for the BCHT said: "We have withdrawn the application so we can carry out a thorough consultation with local residents into any future development.
"We will make a decision on resubmitting any further scheme based on the feedback we receive.
"As a caring and responsible housing landlord we are committed to listening to the views of local people as part of any development proposal."
