A COMPANY has gone from sealing bags to bagging seals in a bid to help injured wildlife.

Yeadon-based Select Bag Sealers, which manufacturers bag sealing machines, has donated £600 to help rescue injured seal pups from coastal waters.

The money has funded new seal transportation bags to be used by Sea Life at Scarborough, which is home to the only seal hospital in Yorkshire.

The bags have already been used in rescuing seals off the Yorkshire coast. Each year the centre comes to the aid of more than 30 injured seal pups from local coastal waters, bringing them to the hospital to undergo a rehabilitation programme. Once the animal care team are satisfied a seal is able to survive again in the wild, it is released back into a seal colony.

Simon Browning, from Select Bag Sealers said: "As a Yorkshire-based business we’re proud to be able to do our part in helping out such an important local cause. Sea Life Scarborough’s important work is definitely worth celebrating and we’re glad to hear that their new seal rescue bags have already helped make a difference."
