OTLEY Courthouse is preparing to stage two events as part of this year's Otley Walking Festival.

This year's festival runs from Saturday, June 23 to Sunday, July 1 and the Courthouse will first get involved on Thursday, June 28.

That is when Mick Bradley will give an illustrated talk on the Trials and Tribulations of Munro Bagging in Scotland.

The event, which starts at 7.30pm, will see Mick sharing humorous tales about his 31 year challenge to conquer all 284 Munros.

A Courthouse spokeswoman said: "Join Mick Bradley for humour and anecdotes galore even amongst the most challenging conditions.

"From the circuit of Ben Nevis in the snow to the overnight bothy in the heart of the Cairngorms, or the long days on the Cuillin Ridge on Skye, this evening’s event will be a real treat for all - whether armchair alpinist or hill walker."

Tickets for the talk cost £3.

Otley Film Society, meanwhile, will present a film all about the fascination that humans have with mountains on Friday, June 29.

Mountain, based on Robert McFarlane's book Mountains of the Mind, will be shown at the Courthouse at 7.45pm.

Showcasing the world's highest spots, it is described as 'visually stunning journey to some of the world’s most beautiful and extreme places'.

Running to 75 minutes, the film draws on on 2,000 hours of filming across 22 countries, and features sparse narration by Willem Dafoe along with a score by the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

The Courthouse says the audience should expect to be impressed: "Prepare to be awestruck by the majesty of some of the world's wildest places, and pumped by the adrenaline of the risks of personal conquest!"

Tickets cost £4.
