NEW singers are being sought to take Horsforth Choral Society into the future as it celebrate its 90th anniversary.

After an anniversary concert in March the large, mixed-voice choir is now looking forward to its summer concert - an evening of folk music and drinking songs, in July.

Rehearsals start on Monday, April 23, and new members are welcome to go along. Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, at St Margaret’s Church, Horsforth. All ages are welcome and no audition is necessary.

As well as rehearsals, singing workshops - which are free to members - are being offered during the summer term.

The choir’s Musical Director Matthew Lazenby said: "For 90 years, Horsforth Choral Society has been part of a rich musical heritage, and we will continue to share our passion for song, tackle new repertoire as well as traditional favourites, and encourage new generations of singers, for many years to come. We are a friendly choir and welcome new members, and it’s the ideal time to join us as we look forward to an exciting future."

The summer concert will take place on Friday, July 20 at St Chad’s Parish Centre, Far Headingley, at 7.30pm. The event is designed to have a light-hearted, cafe-style theme with music including English folk music and madrigals. Anyone interested in finding out more can just turn up to a rehearsal.
