OTLEY councillors have agreed funding of £6,,5000 to help create new ponds at a local nature reserve.
The money, approved by the Town Council's Environment and Sustainability Committee this week, will help the Friends of Gallows Hill push ahead with the work.
The Friends are also aiming to raise further funds to create dipping platforms for the two new ponds at Gallows Hill, to allow families to safely explore the pondlife.
Town council Chair Councillor Ray Georgeson (Lib Dem, Danefield) said: "I’m pleased to see this important investment in our wildlife diversity.
"It will be an asset to the nature area enjoyed by many, with educational benefits as well.
"The Friends of Gallows Hill are to be commended for their efforts to supplement our funds with their fundraising - it’s a team effort to be proud of."
