THE Bishop of Bradford, Bishop Toby Howarth, visited Burley and Woodhead Primary School to launch their Lifesavers Financial Education programme this week.
The programme, which is a partnership between the Archbishop of Canterbury's Just Finance Foundation and Young Enterprise, recognises that attitudes to money management are often fixed in our early years.
For many families, this week is when the reality of Christmas overspending and excess hits home. The scheme seeks to educate children from an early age in how to avoid debt, and teach them how to be truly savvy about how they spend and save their hard-earned money.
Head teacher, Mrs Jo Siddall said: "As a Church of England school, we are committed to preparing our children for the world in which they will live as adults. Our participation in this valuable scheme recognises the importance of financial education. We hope that by working in partnership with parents, the church and the wider community, we can provide our children with the financial skills that will guide them for the rest of their lives."
