LFW Podiatry and Wellness Clinic in Burley-in-Wharfedale have raised over £100 for Guide Dogs with their Christmas ‘Name a Reindeer’ competition.

In the weeks before Christmas, the clinic dressed their window with a display including a toy reindeer and invited patients and passers by to name the reindeer. The entry fee was £1.

Podiatrist and owner Lynda Forbes-Wake said: “As well as the ‘name a reindeer’ we also had a collection box and many patients donated as well as entering the competition. We chose Guide Dogs because one of our patients is Andrew Barton, who is the volunteer branch co-ordinator for the Ilkley branch of Guide Dogs, and also because we have another patient, Laraine Kingston who comes to the clinic regularly with her guide dog Querieda.

"Although the name Rupert wasn’t guessed by anyone, all entries were put in a hat and drawn at random and the winner was Steve Creswick from Burley, who won a £55 one hour medical pedicure treatment, which he has donated to his wife. There were also two runners up from Otley and Ilkley who won luxury footcare items.”

Andrew Barton said: "We are immensely grateful to the clinic for choosing Guide Dogs as the recipient of their Christmas competition. As well as adding to the much needed funds, it helps to raise the profile of Guide Dogs in the community.”
