OTLEY residents are being asked to help a local church find its lost 'flock'.

The Methodist Church needs to retrieve its collection of toy sheep, who like to go wandering at this time of year, before its Christingle Service on Christmas Eve.

Some of the animals, who all have their own names, have been spotted in shop windows around the town.

The church has produced an Advent Sheep Trail leaflet and is asking residents to pick up a copy - available from the library and the church - and complete it by spotting each member of the flock.

Otley Methodist Church Minister Reverend Lesley Taylor, the Superintendent Minister of the Wharfedale and Aireborough Methodist Circuit, said: "Please tell the church where the sheep are by filling in the leaflet and posting it in the box at our Walkergate entrance.

"There will be a small prize for the leaflet with the most correct answers to be drawn out of the box on Christmas Eve."

The Christingle Service will start at 4pm on Sunday, December 24.
