THE organisers of the Burley-in-Wharfedale Christmas Market are appealing for a chocolate seller to complete the festive line-up at their big event on the afternoon of Saturday, December 2.

The street market, run by the Burley and District Chamber of Trade (BADCOT) along Main Street and in Grange Park from 2pm, will feature a wide range of gifts, food and drink, as well as a magician and children's rides.

The market takes place alongside the village's renowned Christmas Lights Switch-on at 4.30pm and a craft fair, in Queen's Hall from 1pm. The family entertainment will include choir and band performances as well as a visit from Santa.

BADCOT market co-ordinator, Danny Schofield said: "There'll be magic, choirs, Santa, fairground rides and even a ukulele band. And we've got lots of interesting market stalls and delicious food booked in – but after a trader had to pull out at the last minute, we're short of a chocolate stall!

"We think you definitely need chocolate at Christmas. Luckily it's not too late for an enterprising chocolatier to get in touch."

He added there was a small number of pitches left for artisan traders selling wares such as cured meats, flavoured gins, luxury soaps, scented candles or winter clothing.

This popular community event attracts thousands of visitors to Burley. Last year the Lord Mayor of Bradford Cllr Geoff Reid described its Christmas lights – run by the Burley-in-Wharfedale Community Trust (BWCT) – as "one of the most impressive light displays in the district".

All proceeds from the street market go to the BWCT Christmas Lights Fund.
