AN OTLEY man has undergone a full body wax for charity.
Michael Wilkinson had his chest, back and legs waxed at the Unity beauty salon in town to raise awareness and funds for Fibromyalgia Action UK.
His partner, Rachel Crowcroft, was diagnosed with the condition - sufferers experience chronic widespread pain and a heightened pain response to pressure - a year a go
As well as raising money for research, the thinking behind having the wax was to simulate one of the symptoms of fibromyalgia, allodynia - which causes the skin to hurt at the slightest touch.
Michael's efforts have raised £120 so far which he is hoping, through online donations - at justgiving.com/fundraising/michael-wilkinson9 - to build up to hit a £500 target.
Speaking after the wax, Rachel said: "Michael did well not to scream!
"We would like to thank Unity for kindly offering to support this cause by carrying out the waxing."
