AN OTLEY businesswoman is celebrating securing investment from the Dragons' Den.

Sarah Agar-Brennan, who runs Love Bomb Cushions, appeared on the hit BBC2 show on Sunday, September 10.

She faced some tough questions from the panel, and touched upon a personal tragedy - the death of her son - as she summed up her 20 years as an entrepreneur.

In the end she had two offers to consider, one from Peter Jones and the other a joint proposal from new Dragons Jenny Campbell and Tej Lalvanni.

Sarah decided to accept the joint offer to secure £80,000 for her family-run novelty plush goods business in return for giving the successful Dragons a 30 per cent - 15 per cent each - share.

After securing the deal, she said: "I claimed my moment.

"I'm going to go and claim our destiny in the cushion world!"

Speaking after the show screened she added: "I’ve been bowled over by people’s response, and been told I’ve done Leeds and Yorkshire proud.

"I went into the den with a mindset to win.

"You have to ignore the lights and cameras, pitch your best and have all the answers ready for their questions."

Sarah established the Leeds-based company, which hold the UK licence for the emoji company and makes cushions, foot cushions, beanies and key chains, 18 months ago.

She has been supported by the Business Enterprise Fund (BEF) whose Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Waud, said: "We’re all thrilled to see yet another one of our clients not only grow their business, but take on the dragons and

win some fantastic investment.

"It’s a testament to Sarah’s determination and ambition and I look forward to seeing what’s next for Love Bomb Cushions.

"Businesses like Sarah’s carry huge potential, we’re proud to have helped kick-start her venture and see continual growth for her business."

Sarah added: "The dragons' backing has been a big boost but I’ll also say that the BEF backing has been integral for us.

"Their funding was there when we needed it, to secure contracts with Debenhams department store.

"Small businesses need an army on the ground to fight their corner, and that’s exactly what the people at BEF have been for us for over two years."
