FORMER classmates are hoping to stage a reunion 60 years after their earliest days at school.

Now in their mid-60s, the former pupils of Broadgate Lane in Horsforth are hoping to organise drinks and a meal as well as a visit to their old school.

One of them, John Burland, said: "Nothing is fixed yet as far as the date is concerned but we are looking for this to be sometime in September which will be 60 years after those of us who started at Broadgate Lane made our first tentative steps into the world of education.

"Two of my former classmates who I am connected to on Facebook have expressed an interest in getting back together for a drink and perhaps a meal but we would also look at having a visit to the school itself."

He added: "I don't have any list of class names, but people will know if they started at Broadgate Lane in 1957 and went up to secondary school in 1963 - they will all have turned 65 over the last ten and a half months. The few names that I can remember are Roger Longfellow, Ian Smith, Peter Gill, David Fell, Linda Naiff, Jennifer Lockwood and Diane Hastie. All the females are of course their maiden names. So again people might remember if they were in the same class as all of these."
