OTLEY'S Mayor has been rubbing shoulders with other dignitaries in Morley.

Town Mayor Councillor Nigel Francis represented the town at the 11th Morley and District Lions March and Hymn Tune Contest on Sunday, June 18.

The event - which raises funds for the Lions' charities - saw 13 brass bands marching and performing outside Morley Town Hall.

Cllr Francis, who was joined by his Consort and son Callum, joined other dignitaries including the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Jane Dowson, and Morley Town Mayor Councillor Robert Finnigan.

He praised Morley Town Council for organising the contest - and providing much-needed shelter and refreshments on a very hot day.

Cllr Francis added: "I am very glad Morley council provided a covered shelter and unlimited supply of drinks as I am sure we would have melted in the heat without them!"
