A BLAZE-HIT theatre company has risen from the ashes to stage its next show in Otley and Yeadon.

Futurist Theatre Productions will perform A Night at the Musicals 2 less than a year after a fire destroyed most of its equipment.

Producer, Jamie Hudson, said: "It’s been a tough few months trying to sort out all the damage that was done during the fire - almost 90 per cent of our equipment, including lights, speakers and costumes, was wiped out. However, with a great team, we’ve pulled through, and now have a brilliant cast ready to bring the West End and Broadway to Leeds."

He said Futurist’s previous shows, including Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar and the first A Night at the Musicals, had received rave reviews and packed audiences, and this next show promised to be no different.

The company, which was hit by the blaze last September, says its ethos of never charging anyone to be in its shows had creamed the best in talent from the local area. The cast will be performing hit numbers from musicals such as Mamma Mia, Kinky Boots, The Book of Mormon, Billy Elliot and Matilda. The show will take place at Otley Parish Church from July 20 to 22 and Yeadon Town Hall from the July 27 to 30.
