POLICE are appealing to anyone who might have information about an alleged sexual assault involving a 21-year-old Otley woman.
Officers are also asking the young man involved to come forward and give his account of the incident.
The woman was walking home along Newall Carr Road, near The Yew Tree pub, late last Friday after drinking with friends in a park, when a young man on a moped or scooter offered her a lift.
She accepted and they rode on Weston Moor Road out of Otley in the direction of Harrogate. At some point on the road the rider stopped and a sexual offence is alleged to have taken place. The young man rode off.
The woman was able to flag down a motorist as she was walking back home in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The man officers wish to speak to is between 18 and 21, 5ft 7ins tall and well built. He has short, straight, dark hair and may have been wearing a black tracksuit. His moped or scooter is believed to have been yellow.
Anyone who knows the man involved or who saw anything is asked to call Harrogate Police on 0845 6060247.
