OTLEY'S MP dropped in for a pint at The Summercross pub to show his support for the first Proud of Pubs week.
Greg Mulholland MP also tabled an Early Day Motion (EDM) in Parliament last week to commemorate the initiative, which started on Sunday, is run by The Publican trade magazine and aims to encourage people to rediscover' their local.
He said: "We should be proud of our pubs, they provide a focal point for our communities, providing employment and a place to meet and socialise.
"They are a fantastic local resource, particularly through the way in which they serve to bring local people together. It is important we recognise this, and support our local community pubs."
The EDM reads: "That this House supports the first Proud of Pubs Week, organised by The Publican magazine, and recognises the importance of local pubs to communities throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland; urges publicans to show their pride in their businesses by reaching out to their communities and taking part in different activities during the week; and urges the public to visit their local pub and support a fantastic local resource."
Tomorrow, Mr Mulholland will be joining other MPs - including Liberal Democrat leader Ming Campbell and Conservative leader David Cameron - who will be dropping in at their local.
