STAFF and customers at a Rawdon pub are raising money for Cancer Research UK with a fun day and a three peaks challenge.

The fun day will take place at the Stone Trough Pub from 12 noon to 4pm on Saturday, May 27. It will include, stalls, chocolate tombola, raffle, barbecue and bouncy castle. There will also be music from 8pm and a quiz.

Fundraising will continue on Saturday, June 3 when eight members of staff and customers take part in the Yorkshire three peaks challenge.

Nikki Bearder, from the pub, said: "This is a topic very close to our hearts with many of us having being touched by cancer either personally or through family. My main inspiration for me organizing the event was finding out that two of our beloved regular guests had been diagnosed with this awful disease. We decided as a team that we were going to do our bit in raising funds to help research a cure for this devastating disease."

She added: "We would love to have more people join us and they can do so by contacting the pub directly on 0113 391 0933 no later than May 31 and ask for either myself or Richard. We are aiming to raise £5,000 and hopefully more."
