A PACKED timetable of events is planned at Burley Library over the next few weeks.

There is a free Scavenger Hunt held from the library in Grange Road, Burley in Wharfedale on Saturday, May 27 from 10.30 am onwards. It will be repeated on Saturday, June 3 also at 10.30 am. The activity is aimed at children and their parents and carers. The event will be held outside in the park, but if it rains there will be a weather-friendly version inside the library.

As part of the regular story-time sessions held during term-time - Tuneful Tuesdays at 1.45 pm - there will be a special event on Tuesday, June 6 at 1.45pm to celebrate National Bookstart Week. For children under five and babies, go along in old clothes and enjoy messy play from the library along with songs and crafts. Again, it is hoped to hold this event outside. Also, pick up your Bears Reading Adventure sticker book and collect stickers every time you attend a children's event at Burley Library through to August.

Burley Library also runs a Homework Club every Tuesday (term-time only) from 3.30pm to 4.45 pm which provides a quiet place to study, volunteer support and reference books for the Burley Oaks' term topics. The library also has computers for free public use which include the Microsoft Office package, access to the internet and free Wi-Fi if you want to use your own devices. These are available to all - library members or not - whenever the library is open.

Burley Library is now managed by Burley Parish Council and run by a team of volunteers. It is open to the public on Mondays and Tuesdays 10am to 5pm, Thursdays 1pm to 6pm, Fridays 2pm to5 pm and Saturdays 10am to 1pm. If you would like to join the team of volunteers pop in and speak to Abi, telephone 01943 863714 or email burleylibrary@gmail.com. Commitment only involves a few hours twice a month at most.

Non-library members are welcome to go to any of these events but membership is free and the library card in any of the libraries in the Bradford network

Cllr Janet Souyave, Chair of Burley Parish Council said: "Burley Library is your library and the Parish Council want you to use and enjoy the things on offer. Why not pop in and give your local library a try."
