PEOPLE in Bradford are being alerted to a potentially harmful email scam which is claiming to be from West Yorkshire Police as well as other authorities.
The force's Cyber Crime Team has warned that one email currently circulating claims to be from the West Yorkshire Police camera unit asking for details of the recipient's vehicle.
Another was sent claiming to be an invoice from West Yorkshire Police for £2,259.20 and asked those who received it to click on a link.?
In reality, clicking on the link would download a Trojan virus to the victim's computer.?
West Yorkshire Police chiefs say their officers would never correspond via email requesting personal information and would encourage anyone who receives an obviously fraudulent email to delete it.?
Detective Inspector Benn Kemp, of the Cyber Crime Team, said: "Some fraudsters claim to be from West Yorkshire Police or other bodies such as the HMIC or the NHS to trick you.
"Always be on guard and never click on a link/open an email that you’re not expecting."
