ANYONE interested in researching their family history is being invited to enrol on a free six session course.

The sessions, at Rawdon Community Library, will start on May 4 and will continue fortnightly until July 6.

Clive Woods, who is Rawdon Community Library Steering Group Member, Rawdon Local History Group Member and chairman of Aireborough Civic Society, said: "Rawdon Library has already subscribed to the Find My Past and British Newspaper Archive websites and library users can research for free at the library during opening hours. However it can be complicated at times and therefore we wanted to help people in a structured way. We now have the chance to do that.

"The Workers' Educational Association (WEA), locally based at Swarthmore in Leeds, is kindly financing a free six week Family History Course at Rawdon Library for us, with the intention that it will continue next Autumn and Winter.

"This is an introductory course covering the essential steps for researching Family and Local History, including recording, civil registration, census and elements of Parish Registers. We will also look at major genealogy websites including those freely available at the library"

To enrol for the course visit https://enrolonline.wea.org.uk/online/coursesearch.aspx and enter the reference C3670666. The WEA Leeds Area Office can be contacted on 0113 245 3304. Demand could be high and there are a limited number of places.
