ILKLEY Civic Society is appealing for funding to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the introduction of Conservation Areas.

The group is planning a number of events and activities, including an exhibition, in the run up to Civic Day on June 17. The society is also planning to produce and distribute a conservation area information leaflet to around 1500 households and commercial premises within the three conservation areas in the town.

The civic society has already secured funding from the Institute of Historic Building Conservation, which is supporting the celebrations nationally. Further grant applications have already been made and the society will also be approaching companies involved in the conservation of historic properties for their support.

The group would also welcome further financial support and help from local individuals and businesses.
