OTLEY runner Danny Cooney has notched up his fourth fundraising marathon in 12 months.

Danny, who completed the Cork, Dublin and Lanzarote runs in 2016, crossed the finishing line in Barcelona on Sunday, March 12.

He finished the race in three hours and 27 minutes, and proceeds from his sponsorship will go to the Lily Foundation, a charity dedicated to finding a cure for Mitochondrial Disease.

Danny got involved after hearing about the work of Otley resident Shona Mellon, whose two year old daughter Isla Shaw has complex medical needs, to raise money and awareness of the condition.

His efforts will continue on Saturday, April 1 with a fundraising night at Otley's Manor House pub.

He said: "We are hoping to put on a really good night for Isla with live music and raffle/auction prizes including two exclusive FC Barcelona gift bags and items donated by local businesses in Otley.

"The Lily Foundation is a very positive, caring and inspirational charity."

Fundraising Co-ordinator for the Lily Foundation, Michelle Moore, added: "We love our fundraisers and thank you to everyone at the Manor for helping gorgeous Isla."

The evening's entertainment will start at 7pm with a performance from Keiran La Fox, followed by a set from DJ Steve Sheard.

Buffet food will also be available and entry is free, with all donations and proceeds going to the charity.
