GUISELEY Brass Band had a very busy time at Christmas playing at various venues to spread a little festive cheer. The band played Christmas music and carols at the Otley Christmas Tree Festival and the Guiseley Lantern Parade, as well as at light switch-ons in Bramley, Ilkley and Guiseley.

Residents at a number of nursing and care homes listened to and joined in with the band, and other people local to Guiseley also enjoyed the Christmas music as the band played in and around the shops throughout December and around residential areas on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, a tradition going back to the 1870s.

The band's two main concerts, one at Lower Wortley Methodist Church and the other at St Oswald's Church, Guiseley (with a seemingly record attendance) showcased a variety of Christmas, classical and modern music, complete with a Viking performance from the conductor and bandmaster Mr Roy Stevenson.
