NEWLY completed luxury retirement homes in Otley have been selling fast.

Adlington's £11 million riverside development, off Bridge Street, was only finished at the end of October.

More than 90 per cent of its 48 apartments, however, have already been reserved and 21 of the homes are now occupied.

Adlington says that makes its Otley development, which includes a table-service restaurant, hairdressing salon, lounge and an activities and crafts room, the company's fastest-selling site in its ten year history.

Sales Manager Phil Holyoak said: "We have been overwhelmed by the levels of interest.

"We have very much enjoyed bringing the Adlington product to West Yorkshire home buyers and are so pleased with the positive feedback and with how many properties have been sold - making it our top-selling site.

"We always thought there was a great deal of demand in the town for a new retirement facility

but to have such a huge uptake, within weeks of the development being built, is a new record for us. "The 24-hour on-site care and support option, provided by our partner MHA (Methodist Homes), has been a big selling point for many of our homeowners."

He added: "With just four apartments now remaining, we would urge those who are looking for an easier way of life to get in touch and come and see us soon."
