AN INDEPENDENT Living event in Otley has been hailed a 'huge success'.

More than 100 people attended the day, organised by Otley Action for Older People, at the Methodist Church last month.

Aimed at anyone aged 60 or over, the event featured 25 stalls from businesses, charities and services across Leeds who help people live at home longer.

The participating groups included Arthritis Care, the Alzheimer's Society, and Care and Repair while Police Community Support Officers also attended to share safety advice ad give out free 'winter warmers'.

Visitors also enjoyed a buffet lunch and entertainment by The Otley Action Zumba Gold group, the Woolpack Concert Band and Otley Action's choir.
