POLICE are warning householders to step up their security after a spate of shed and garage burglaries in Bramhope.
A total of nine incidents were reported in less than three weeks during October, most of them happening between 6pm and 9pm.
Three burglaries were carried out at Long Meadows on October 1 and six took place on Tredgold Ave and Breary Lane between October 17 and 18. Thieves forced their way into sheds and garages, stealing garden tools and pedal cycles.
Now PCSO's are highlighting the risk with letters to residents urging them to step up their security with lighting, alarms, security marking and ground anchors. They are also advising chaining property together to make it harder to carry away.
Officers are also planning a scrap metal day of action in the village amid concerns about people operating around Bramhope, particularly in The Poplars and Rowans area. Scrap metal has also been taken from a driveway on High Ridge Way.
