A NEW Otley estate agency has been named after a fun-loving grandmother.

When Keeley Kear came to naming her business she decided to take inspiration from her own family.

Doris Dent Estates is named after a gran whom Keeley describes as a lively character who "enjoyed nothing more than being daft".

The independent business, which also has a photo of Doris as its logo, launched earlier this year and is based at Unit 13 on Orchard Gate, within the Otley Health and Martial Arts Centre.

Keeley said: "My vision was to create something different and memorable, a little lighthearted and to move away from the more traditional reputation of an estate agent.

"Doris moved to Bennet Court, Otley in 1992. Having visited my gran over the following years and having fallen in love with the town, I decided to follow her and moved to Otley in 1999.

"I wanted to combine my love for Otley town and my passion for property and retrained in residential sales.

"And using my own experience of property developing and of buying and selling houses in and around Wharfedale I have created Doris Dent Estates."

The business will team up with the Chevin Socialites group at this year's Otley Victorian Fayre to run a stall outside the office in support of the Hug on a Tray appeal for hospital patients.
