ILKLEY Wharfedale Rotary Club is holding a re-cycling day on Saturday, September 24 from 10am to 2pm in the central Ilkley car park.

Members will be accepting a range of unwanted items from the public, including bicycles, mobility aids, workshop tools and equipment, as well as sewing machines and spectacles.

All donated items are refurbished before being sent abroad to those who need them but cannot afford to buy them.

“We know people often hang onto these things, even after they’ve stopped using them, because they feel they could still be of use to someone, but they don’t quite know who to offer them to,” said Rotarian Marten Koopmans. “We hope they will take this opportunity to bring them to our collection point. We can certainly find a second life for them in the Third World!”
