BURLEY Scout & Guide Group has received a cheque for £362 from Waitrose's Community Matters charity.

The money will go towards the new Scout and Guide Headquarters. The scout and guide group have now raised more than a quarter of the £400,000 total amount required for the new headquarters in Peel Place, Burley-in-Wharfedale.

Rainbows leader Helen Haskins visited Waitrose in Otley to received the cheque. She said: "It is wonderful to get such great support from Otley Waitrose!"

As well as thanking Waitrose, the scout and guide group would also like to thank all the Waitrose shoppers in Otley who used their green tokens to vote for them.

Since its launch in 2008 the Community Matters box has donated £14million to local charities chosen by shoppers, who get a token at the end of every shop to put in the box of the local good cause they'd like to support. Each month every Waitrose branch donates £1,000 between three local good causes.
