A NEW fruit-inspired recipe book has been launched in Otley.

Scrumptious, produced by the Courthouse Heritage Group, features all kinds of apple or pear dishes - from soups and salads to main courses, chutneys and desserts.

Published by Small Print, in Menston, the book is also packed with drawings and jokes and costs £2.50, with all proceeds going to the arts centre.

The original Otley Courthouse was built in Victorian times on land that was previously used as allotments and orchards.

The introduction to Scrumptious says: "Otley was famous for its orchards so members of the Courthouse Heritage Group decided to take this opportunity to remind residents and visitors of the importance of fruit to the town.

"Members have collected and tried out a variety of recipes for this book and we have also included some jokes to capture children's interest in cooking."

Four Otley businesses, Chez Vin, Club Energy, Otta's Leah and JB Wilkinson & Sons have sponsored the book
