HORSFORTH and Aireborough's MP has hailed new employment statistics.

The number of people currently in work across the UK is at a record level according to data published last week.

The figures also show that the rate of women in work is at the highest level since comparable records began.

In the Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough constituency, meanwhile, the number of people claiming the major out-of-work benefits has fallen by 818 - a 57 per cent drop - since 2010.

Conservative MP for the seat, Stuart Andrew, said: "This is another set of record-breaking figures, with the rate of women in work at the highest since records began and the number of young people out of work down by hundreds of

thousands.

"The number of people in my constituency relying on key out of work benefits has also fallen by 818 since 2010 as businesses are able to get more people into work, helped by the decisions taken to strengthen our economy.

"I know there is more to do to build an economy that works for everyone, and I will continue to work hard to make sure the Government helps even more people benefit from the opportunities in our economy."
