A YOUNG girl has had her hair chopped off for a cancer charity after being inspired by the courage of children suffering from the disease.

Nine-year-old Seren Chalmers is donating her hair to make wigs for children with cancer and she has also raised £300 for the Little Princess Trust.

The youngster, from Guiseley decided to give up her long locks after seeing TV coverage of children who have lost their own hair because of the disease. And she was given a stylish new cut free of charge by Salon 65 in Yeadon.

Proud mum Lisa described Seren as "an amazing little girl."

She added: "She is always trying to raise money for different causes and charities close to her heart. She was inspired to raise for Little Princess trust after seeing some children on tv talking about losing their hair to cancer.

"The next day she decided to donate her hair and raise money at the same time. So far she has raised £ 300 through her justgiving/serens charity hair chop page. I am very proud of her."
