FROM Bhangra dancing to pedal power on smoothie maker bikes there was something for everyone at Airedale Hospital’s latest annual public open day.

Hundreds of visitors of all ages turned out to the event staged in a marquee and the education centre at the hospital.

There were more than 50 interactive stalls offering fun for all the family including health check-ups such as Body Mass Index, blood pressure, and an atrial fibrillation test with advice from Airedale's stroke team.

Members of the hospital's asthma team were on hand to make sure people with this condition use their inhalers properly.

Also on display last Thursday (August 17) was a giant birthing pool with a chance to meet midwives.

People could test Airedale's latest video consultation technology, experiment with medical mannequins, join in with the Sing from the Heart choir and get a realistic looking wound make-over – just like in the movies!

Michael Luger, chairman of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This was probably our biggest and best open day yet.

"Our staff provided a perfect opportunity for families to find out more about what goes on behind the scenes in our hospital – but also to have fun during the school holidays.

“Everyone worked so hard to make sure the event was a success, and I am delighted by the tremendous support we received from our local community.”
