AN OTLEY hotel has thrown its weight behind a project to help local children in deprived areas.

Crerar Hotels Trust, which owns the Chevin Country Park Hotel and Spa, has made a £2,000 donation to One in a Million.

The charity will use the money to provide support for sports and community education projects aimed at local children and young people in Bradford and surrounding areas.

One in a Million's work includes leading exercise sessions, courses in creative subjects like drama, dance and music, as well as talks on issues such as substance abuse, nutrition, crime and bullying.

John Mitchell, from the charity, said: "We are greatly encouraged that such an esteemed trust, represented locally, identifies with the work that we do and wishes to be associated with us.

"Their support is very much appreciated and will make a significant difference to what we are able to achieve. Thank you Crerar Hotels Trust.

"All of our projects are open to any youngsters, irrespective of colour, creed, ethnicity, gender, sexual persuasion or social standing, and are designed to provide opportunities and pathways for better progression."

Chevin Country Park Hotel and Spa general manager, Mark Starkey, added: "It was a pleasure and an honour to be handing the cheque over and to hear all about what One in a Million manages to achieve."
