OTLEY councillors have agreed to push for an annual meeting with Wharfedale Hospital chiefs.

The town council unanimously backed the idea at its policy and resources meeting on Monday.

The idea of receiving face-to-face updates from Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust once a year was included in the pre-election manifesto produced by Otley Liberal Democrats in 2015.

Town council leader, Councillor Ray Georgeson (Lib Dem, Danefield), said: "Our plan is to seek a meeting for councillors with the trust and associated commissioners to hear more about their current situation and future objectives."

Any Otley residents, who have issues they wish to be raised at a future meeting, should contact Cllr Kate Whelan (Lib Dem, West Chevin).

E-mails can be sent to kate.whelan@otleytowncouncil.gov.uk or dropped off at the town council offices in Orchard Gate, with an accompanying note.

The trust recently produced an online video, featuring staff from Wharfedale, to publicise all of the services available at the Otley hospital.
