TO mark the Queen's official birthday, the children at Westville House School in Carter's Lane, Middleton, held a right Royal celebration.
Beginning with a celebration Street Party lunch in which the children wore crowns and waved flags, the day unfolded into grandparents afternoon. Over 100 grandparents came to school to be shown around by their grandchildren and to be treated to the most sumptuous afternoon tea.
The afternoon was not complete without rousing performances from both school choirs and of course the National Anthem.
Mr Ian Shuttleworth Headmaster said: “The teaching of British values is extremely important within the educational curriculum. To celebrate the 90th birthday of our longest reigning Monarch helps the children to develop an understanding of tradition and of all those things that are so highly regarded as part of the British culture. It was a fabulous day enjoyed by the children, their parents and grandparents.”
