BROWNIES held a picnic in the park to celebrate The Queen's official 90th birthday.

Youngsters from 3rd Yeadon Brownies marked the Royal occasion by having a picnic in Nunroyd Park followed by fun and games. Six new Brownies made their promise as part of the celebrations.

Seven-year-old Ava Pickstock was one of those making the pledge. She said: "It wasn't scary making my promise in the park."

Italia Crompton, also seven, said she loved making her promise in the park and would always remember the special day.

"This was the best fun," added nine-year-old Ellie Malone.

Brown Owl, Stephanie Armitage, said: "We had our picnic at the bottom of the banking, so we didn't have far to walk for one of the Brownies' favourite park games – rolling down the banking.

"We did a giant roll where the Brownies all held on to each other.

"We wanted to get out and celebrate The Queen's birthday with a bit of adventure rather than just staying in the hall. What better way than our new Brownies making their promise, which includes serving The Queen and our community, on our brilliant local park with food and banking rolling?"
