A GUISELEY vets is helping young rugby players by becoming the main shirt sponsor for three girls' teams.

White Cross Vets has extended its sponsorship with Baildon Rugby Club, where it already sponsors age grade mini and junior rugby kits.

The White Cross logo will now also be displayed on the shirts across the club’s three junior girls’ teams, as well as the warm-up kits.

Tim Harrison, managing director at the vets, said: "Baildon Rugby Club plays a prominent role in the local community and we first began sponsoring the club nine years ago.

"Since then, the club has evolved greatly and, as a successful local business that takes a lot of pride in supporting families, local sports clubs and organisations, we’re delighted to have continued building on our relationship with them. Girls rugby is a fast-growing area of the sport that Baildon RUFC has really embraced, so it’s fantastic to lend our support to this section of the club."

Phil Wilson, of Baildon RUFC, said: "As a club, we maintain a high level of community engagement at all levels, and we can now offer rugby, and its related games, to boys and girls of all ages, from toddlers to veterans.

"Our girls’ teams have been a major success story for us in recent years, and what started out as a satellite club at a local secondary school in 2013, has now grown into an integral part of the club, with 36 registered players."
