A WHARFEDALE food shop and cafe will be hosting a family fun day this Bank Holiday to celebrate 'the Yorkshire pig'.

The Local Pantry, based north of Pool-in-Wharfedale off the A658, will be holding a barbecue and pork feast on Monday, when a 'Man versus Pig' sandwich will be among the culinary offerings.

Children, meanwhile, can also enjoy a variety of pig-themed arts and craft activities and face painting, while Peppa Pig fans are being invited to take their Wellington boots to join in the Muddy Puddle Jumping.

The Local Pantry's owner, Suzannah Hepworth, said: "We want to celebrate all that is great about the Yorkshire pig – it provides us with such a variety of cuts and can be enjoyed in so many different ways.

"All are welcome – we are going to have a ‘crackling’ time!"

The business's new charcuterie range will also be available to sample.

Anyone wishing to book the long table at the venue for a group gathering on the day should call 0113 2037361.
