STUDENTS at Benton Park School in Rawdon presented £2,418 to Help for Heroes after a year of fund-raising.

The school's student leadership team organised a number of events in 2015, including non-uniform days, bun sales and sporting activities.

Kevin Mitchell, from Help for Heroes, visited the school last week to receive the cheque from year ten students Molly Aspden and Hannah Francis, together with co-headteacher, Delia Martin.

Hannah and Molly said: "We are extremely proud of our achievement and are so pleased the money is going to such a worthwhile charity. This year, we are raising money for Candlelighters."

Help for Heroes gives support to wounded servicemen and women and their families.

In the 12 months leading up to March 2015, the charity helped more than 4,000 veterans and military personnel through its network of recovery centres.
