GROUPS in Otley and Yeadon will be able to use local community centres rent-free for the next year.
The arrangement, pushed for by the area's three ward councillors, is worth more than £50,000.
It means not-for-profit groups, like Alcoholics Anonymous and the Airedale and Wharfedale Autism Resource, will be able to use community centres without having to worry about the rental fee.
Cllr Sandy Lay (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) said: "Support services and local groups build and strengthen our communities, reducing social isolation and helping those that need it most.
"I am pleased that we can offer them this relief so they can keep doing the good work they are known for."
Cllr Colin Campbell added: "Every year, we are faced with the difficult decision between continuing to offer free rents to community groups or whether to let them lapse to save money. However, across the ward in both Otley and Yeadon, there are many residents who give up their time to support other people. This is a way we felt we could help them do that the best way they can."
