A SCHIZOPHRENIC man, who stalked two women cafe workers in Ilkley, has been given an hospital order.

Bradford Crown Court heard that David Currie, 40, had previously been given a restraining order, preventing him contacting one of the women.

But he then targeted the second woman, staring at her and lingering at the counter while she was working.

The court heard that Currie, of Leeds Road in Ilkley, followed the woman around the town. She moved home, partly to stop the harassment, and police walked her home from work to stop his behaviour.

Currie's solicitor advocate, Ray Singh, said two psychiatrists had recommended a Section 37 hospital order.

Currie, who was accompanied in the dock by two nurses, is detained at Lynfield Mount Hospital in Bradford.

Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC told Currie he was not well and was suffering from schizophrenia and other problems, but he was responding to treatment.
