AN OTLEY charity has received an early Christmas present worth nearly £2,000.

The town's Sainsbury's store presented Otley and District Riding for the Disabled (RDA) - their charity for the year - with a cheque for £1,950 last week.

The money has been raised by the supermarket's staff holding everything from sponsored bike rides to collections and tombolas, as well as volunteering at the group's fundraising events.

Otley and District RDA Treasurer Jeannie Lupton said: "We're very pleased with this donation - Sainsbury's have been fantastic."

Chairman Judy Olby added: "At our barbecue they didn't just provide things for it but the staff came along and helped, and gave their time, which meant so much."

Sainsbury's will make a further donation to the charity once its fundraising year is over.
